translating rehab & sport science to everyday practice

My approach to rehab is pragmatic, and centers on collaborating with the you the patient to address your unique needs and goals, while maximizing your ability to continue in your sport. I utilizes objective tests and measures to optimize and individualize exercise prescription throughout the rehab process. I am proud to be one of only 5 women in the Portland area to be a board-certified clinical specialist in sports physical therapy, and I am also a certified strength and conditioning specialist.

I grew up in Maryland, playing soccer and basketball but since moving to Portland 8 years ago my own athletic pursuits have shifted towards rock climbing (sport and trad) and snowboarding & split-boarding. I have experienced firsthand how injury can threaten personal identity, so I’m intentional to support athletes through the mental and emotional challenges of rehab.

I’ve been practicing physical therapy since 2020, and prior to that was a strength coach/personal trainer for several years. I have experience treating athletes across a variety of sports and levels, from NFL players and masters triathletes, to middle school athletes, weightlifters, and mountain athletes. In the summer of 2023 I had the unique opportunity to serve as the physical therapist for professional circus artists and dancers on a cruise ship in Greece.

I have a special interest in managing athletic overuse injuries, as well as return to sport after shoulder surgery, achilles repair, and ACL reconstruction. While in grad school I contributed to a protocol for ACL rehab, authoring the portion on return to plyometrics and the incorporation of cognitive tasks alongside motor skills. I’m also passionate about mentoring other clinicians in the areas of objective assessment and exercise prescription, and have presented on that topic at the American Physical Therapy Association’s national conference, in webinars, and as a guest lecturer for doctor of physical therapy programs.

Outside of the clinic, and away from sports, you can find me playing with my dog Huck, enjoying a game night with friends, and I keep saying I’ll soon revisit my roots as a classical violinist but that hasn’t happened… yet!
